Telehealth uses electronic communication to support evaluation and care when in-person interaction is not required. A clinician may decide that telehealth is not sufficient and recommend in-person care.

Telehealth can improve convenience and access. Limits can include incomplete information, technology failure, delayed communication, and the inability to perform a complete in-person examination.

Provide accurate information, disclose current medications and allergies, follow instructions, ask questions, and seek urgent or in-person care when needed. Be physically located in the state you report during care.

A requested treatment may be declined. A prescription is issued only when a licensed clinician determines it is appropriate and permitted.
